About me...

I'm David Gustafik. I live in Slovakia, Bratislava. My nickname is 'daqq'. That's DAQQ not DAGG as many misinterpret it. It is a sort of failsafe to prevent people who can't read properly from contacting me. You can contact me at darth.daqq [@] gmail.com (remove the brackets and the space...protection against spam). Currently I'm studying at the Faculty of Electronics and Informatics of STUBA, in the first grade...

The picture here is a photo of me with my girlfriend, whom I love very much:

Main facts about me:

My hobbies are electronics, robotics and a bit science in general.

I have no problem with sharing most knowledge, and helping friends.

I hate spammers and believe a death sentence should be applicable in their trials.

I'm an atheist/pastafarian, with a dislike for religion in general.

I'm from Slovakia.

I'm a starting embedded systems developer, well actually more of a hobbyist.

I know the answer is 42!

I believe C is better than assembler and that GCC is the best compiler for AVRs and WINAVR is the best distro for developing AVRs.

I think that the best movie series was StarWars.

The best book is of course The Lord of the Rings, followed by The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. And the Sandman comics...

I prefer to be nice to people and believe that Honesty is the best policy.

I like to play PC games, RPG mostly. Deus Ex = best game ever. Followed by BG2 and Planescape:Torment. Red Alert 2 = drool.

IMHO: I can code in C, C++, Java, assembly nooby, brainfuck abit.

I like classical music, opera mostly. Turandot rulez. Carmina Burana also.

I love Dasa Ondrejkovicova, my girlfriend...

I hope someday we'll meet intelligent and peaceful lifeforms...until then we're stuck with our selves.

I like retro electronics, steampunk etc...

Event's/contests I've been to:

The London International Youth Science Forum (an event for young scientists, very good )

Me and stonehenge

The European Union Contest for Young Scientists (Won only the Slovakian round with my friend, Filip Toth, and then went to the European Finale to Stockholm, year 2006)

(photo of some of the Slovakian team on the Eucontest and a Nobel prize Laureate)
Me, and a nobel prize winner

SOC (High school competition) 2004, 2005, 2006 - won the state round on the second place on all three occasions.

Robot Challenge 2006 - I just took part here... My friend and I constructed a robot, the FTDGX2, which wasn't meant for speed but precision and drilling (a more detailed spec. in the projects section), so we didn't win anything...

And a few other events...

Misc activities:

Currently I work at Microstep MIS, and teach robotics at my good old high school.

Total: 51

Games that I haven't finished:

Name Reason for not finishing
Warcraft 3 The last level is too fucking hard!
Icy Tower It is unfinishable, but I got around floor 600!
MMORPGs in general I plain don't like the genre, and they are not finishable and not finite which I see as a major problem
Arx Fatalis The game got too boring in the end and most likely had a bug
The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind After becoming a powerful character, the game got very boring, unless you find ohsomany hours of walking through endless terrain entertaining
Doom 1, 2 When I finally got to them in 2006, they were simply too old and non entertaining
Some car racing game I got that one with a magazine for free. I installed it, played it for a while and finally realized, that the whole genre simply SUCKS and lacks any kind of fun.
GTA 3 and data disks Same as above. Though it was fun for a moment, then it got infinitely boring. Go to place A, steal thing B and return here.
Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth For some strange reason the game didn't do well on my precious computer. Aside from that I didn't like the controls and a bit too real (in the sense of no general health, but detailed partial health etc...I didn't mind the gore though :-) )
Generic sport game While on a visit to a friends place, he was drooling on about the greatness of a generic football simulator from EA or something. I sat to the computer, and with a lack of any interest played for a few minutes. I guess I'll stick to fun games and games that don't suck.
Daikatana We ALL know the story of Daikatana. So let's remember it and remember that no matter how long you inflate a bubble it will pop one day.
The Sims There's no way to win, nor to lose (except death, and you have to be extra stupid to die there.)
Darwin Bots Still playing :-)
KKND 2 When it arose from the cloning vat into which Dune 2 fell it seemed like fun, but I didn't like it for long.
Nethack I know it has potential, but the thing simply too hard to control and not very rewarding
D&D Yes, the paper and real dice version. I played it once, but didn't like it. Computers and GUIs are simply a neccesity when it comes to RPG.
Some flight simulator Simply not my genre. Might be fun for someone who enjoys hours and hours of nothing moving, but not for me. Sorry.
The Incredible Machine One of the greatest games on the face of the planet. A physical simulator with which I constructed machines that were spectacular and completely useless! Must play again and not go only for the Make your own one, but also for the puzzle part.
Dungeon Keeper 1 It was in german. My understanding of german is limited to the word Ein.
Half Life 2 - Garry's mod It's very fun, but not finishable, only a simple sandbox. Not worth the 10$, but fun...
Startopia Yet another Sim<inset_activity_name_here>. Fun, for a while, but then it got all the same. Boring to the end...
Life I hope I won't finish this one anytime soon. The plot's great, the main character is a bit weird, the interactivity of the world is cool. Currently I'm playing as a Geek with a specialization in Electronics, level 8. I hope to gain levels as high as 19 and get another specialization into IT (which I'm currently still at level 4) and gain a prestige class of Developer or Elder Geek. My inventory includes: Multitool + 1, Microscope/Binocular, Cellphone + 2, Atmel AVR Tshirt +3 of Immunity to PIC. The inventory I keep in my stash can be seen on this page. Here's my character sheet:
Alingment: Lawful neutral

Race: Human - European

Gold:
I lack it. Please help if you can :-)

Favorite weapon:
Multitool + 1 of cutting ducttape
Me, David GUstafik

Weapon Skills:
Soldering gun/pen : +++
General tools (pliers, screwdrivers,...): ++
Debugging Hammer: +

Spells:
Stinking Cloud with limited area of effect and limited effect
Power word: Annoy/Piss off
Haste (only available after using Power Word Annoy or in times close to Deadlines)
Confusion - enables the caster to talk about a subject to a person who doesn't know anything about the given subject and make him believe total bullshit. Use only for fun or when someone's annoying
Detect cool stuff - enables the caster to detect cool stuff and drool about them
